Harley-Davidson® announced earlier this year its desire to expand its offering by producing an electric motorcycle. To this end, the American brand has decided to join forces with the Californian company Alta Motors by making an equity investment in the manufacturer of electric two-wheel vehicles.

The two companies will thus collaborate in the development of electric motorcycle technologies in order to launch a new vehicle in 2019.

This collaboration is part of a long-term plan for the legendary American motorcycle brand, as explained by its President and CEO Matt Levatich: “Earlier this year, as part of our 10-year strategy, we reiterated our commitment to build the next generation of Harley-Davidson® riders, in part, by aggressively investing in electric vehicle (EV) technology.”

Harley-Davidson® chose Alta, created in 2010 and leader in its field, to move forward with this project.

“Alta has demonstrated innovation and expertise in EV and their objectives align closely with ours. We each have strengths and capabilities that will be mutually beneficial as we work together to develop cutting-edge electric motorcycles.”

With this new motorcycle, Harley-Davidson® and Alta want to attract a new class of drivers, looking for a vehicle that is both inspiring and easy to drive.
